He told WCBS radio and ABC TV that as soon as he arrived at his cousin's wake on Valentines day, he bent down to pick his set of keys that had dropped when he suddenly heard a pop sound.
He said he felt a severe burning on his leg and a couple of people said they could actually smell his burning body.
"I felt a burn instantly and a cloud of smoke Instantly" he said. "I couldn't get my phone out of my pocket so I had to rip my pants off to get the phone away from me". It went to a pretty much Instant burning", he told WCBS "it didn't even warm up; it just went to burn"
Johnson also reported to ABC news that first, he notice his leg caught fire and the Intensity of the heat melted his shut.
Eric Johnson has spent 10 days already in a specialist burns unit after the mobile phone melted through his trouser and stuck to his skin.
Experts said the phones can explode If their circuit board is damaged or a different charger is used.
Eric Johnson claims he has always used the right charger and he is going ahead sue Apple.
Apple says it is investigating the incident.
