WhatsApp BANNED IN BRAZIL

Following the investigations carried out in Brazil concerning the circulation of sexual graphic photos of children among users, Judge Luiz de Moura Courreira ruled that the popular App should shut down for failure to cooperate with the investigations.

Lawyers of WhatsApp allegedly claimed that the services does not have to comply with Brazilian law because it does not have offices there.

Sindi Telebrasil, the organization that represents the Industry has warned that the action would cost huge losses to millions of Brazilians, 

A Market research gave the statistics that about 56% of Brazilians uses the App.

Although an order has been given to mobile phone operators to shut down the service,  WhatApp will be operating as normal while an appeal takes place

It would be recalled that just last year, Facebook purchased WhatApp for $19bn.
